Lipirex Side Effects

Common Side Effects

1. Other cholesterol-lowering medications: Combining Lipirex with other cholesterol-lowering drugs like fibrates (e.g., gemfibrozil) can increase the risk of muscle-related side effects, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis.
2. Certain antibiotics and antifungals: Some antibiotics (e.g., clarithromycin) and antifungals (e.g., itraconazole, ketoconazole) can increase Lipirex levels in the blood, raising the risk of side effects.
3. Certain heart medications: Medications like diltiazem, verapamil, or amiodarone used for heart conditions can interact with Lipirex, potentially increasing the risk of muscle-related side effects.
4. Grapefruit juice: Drinking grapefruit juice can increase the levels of Lipirex in the blood, leading to a higher risk of side effects. It’s advisable to avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice while taking Lipirex.
