Sustac tablet is a quick-acting medication to provides rapid relief during acute episodes of angina, a condition characterized by chest pain or discomfort caused by reduced blood flow to the heart muscle. It helps to treat and prevent angina by dilating the blood vessels allowing more oxygen to reach the heart muscle. Following are some common and off-label uses of Sustac Tablet:

Common Uses of Sustac Tablet

1. Heart Failure: Sustac tablet is used to relieve symptoms of heart failure, a condition in which the heart cannot pump blood efficiently.
2. Acute Myocardial Infarction: Sustac tablets can be used to treat acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) by reducing the workload on the heart and improving blood flow.

Sustac has some contraindications, which means that it should not be used in certain situations due to the risk of serious side effects.

• Hypersensitivity: Sustac should not be used in individuals who are hypersensitive to the drug or any of its ingredients.
• Severe Anemia: Sustac should not be used in individuals with severe anemia, a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells to carry oxygen to the organs and tissues.
• Increased Intracranial Pressure: Sustac should not be used in individuals with increased intracranial pressure, a condition in which there is increased pressure inside the skull that can cause headaches and other symptoms.

• Concomitant Use with Drugs for Erectile Dysfunction: Sustacshould not be used in combination with drugs for erectile dysfunction, such as sildenafil, tadalafil, or vardenafil, as this can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
• Concomitant Use with Riociguat: Sustac should not be used in combination with riociguat, a medication used to treat pulmonary hypertension, as this can also cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.

The daily dose of Sustac varies depending on the individual’s condition and response to treatment. The dose may be adjusted by the healthcare provider to achieve the desired effect while minimizing side effects.

Sustac Dose for the Treatment of Angina: The starting dose is one tablet of 2.6mg.

The maximum daily dose of Sustac is one tablet of 6.4mg.

Sustac works by relaxing the smooth muscles in the walls of blood vessels, leading to vasodilation and increased blood flow. Glyceryl trinitrate (an active ingredient of Sustac) is converted into nitric oxide (NO) in the body, which activates the enzyme guanylate cyclase and increases the production of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). cGMP then promotes the relaxation of smooth muscles in blood vessels, resulting in vasodilation and improved blood flow.
