Rithmo Tablet Uses

Rithmo tablet is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections, including pneumonia, bronchitis, skin infections, H. pylori infection, and Lyme disease. It belongs to the macrolide class of antibiotics. Following are some common and off-label uses of Rithmo Tablet:

Common Uses of Rithmo Tablet

1. Respiratory Tract Infections: Rithmo tablet is commonly used to treat respiratory tract infections, including acute bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, and sinusitis.
2. Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Rithmo tablet is also used to treat skin and soft tissue infections, such as cellulitis and impetigo.
3. Gastrointestinal Infections: Rithmo tablet is used to treat gastrointestinal infections caused by Helicobacter pylori bacteria, such as peptic ulcers and gastritis.
4. Sexually Transmitted Infections: Rithmo tablet is sometimes used to treat sexually transmitted infections, such as chlamydia and gonorrhea.

Off-label Uses of Rithmo Tablet

1. Other Infections: Rithmo tablets may also be used to treat other infections, such as ear infections, dental infections, and disseminated Mycobacterium Avium Complex (MAC) infections in patients with HIV.
2. Mycobacterial Infections: Rithmo tablet is sometimes used in the treatment of mycobacterial infections, including Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) infections and certain types of non-tuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) infections. It is often used in combination with other antibiotics.
3. Use as Adjunctive Therapy: Rithmo tablets also can be used in adjunctive therapy as an alternative drug of choice in duodenal ulcers and endocarditis.

Rithmo is generally considered safe for most people when used as directed by a healthcare provider. However, there are certain situations where the use of Rithmo is contraindicated or should be used with caution.

• Hypersensitivity: Rithmo should not be used in people who have a known hypersensitivity to the drug or other macrolide antibiotics.
• Liver Disease: Rithmo can cause liver damage, particularly in people who already have liver disease. It should be used with caution in people with liver disease, and liver function tests should be monitored regularly.

Mild to Moderate Infections: The dose is 1-2 tablets of Rithmo 250mg twice daily for 1-2 weeks.

Severe Infections: The dose is 1-2 tablets of Rithmo 500mg twice daily and the duration of therapy is determined by a doctor.

Rithmo works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria. It does this by binding to the bacterial ribosome, which is the site where proteins are synthesized, and preventing the ribosome from functioning properly.
