How Reltus DM Works?

Reltus DM Syrup is a combination of three active ingredients commonly combined in cough and cold medications. Each ingredient serves a specific role in addressing the various symptoms associated with colds, allergies, and respiratory conditions.

  1. Chlorpheniramine (Antihistamine):
    • Mode of Action: Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine that works by blocking the effects of histamine, a chemical released by the body during allergic reactions. Histamine is responsible for causing symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itching, and watery eyes.
    • Effects: Chlorpheniramine helps relieve allergic reactions and related symptoms by reducing the impact of histamine on target cells.
  2. Dextromethorphan (Cough Suppressant):
    • Mode of Action: Dextromethorphan acts centrally in the brain to suppress the cough reflex. It affects the cough center in the medulla oblongata, reducing the urge to cough.
    • Effects: Dextromethorphan helps alleviate non-productive coughing by reducing the frequency and intensity of coughing episodes. It does not target the underlying cause of the cough but provides temporary relief.
  3. Pseudoephedrine (Decongestant):
    • Mode of Action: Pseudoephedrine is a sympathomimetic decongestant that works by narrowing blood vessels in the nasal passages and reducing blood flow to nasal tissues. This leads to a decrease in swelling and congestion.
    • Effects: Pseudoephedrine helps relieve nasal and sinus congestion by reducing the swollen blood vessels in the nasal passages, making it easier to breathe.
