- Peripheral neuropathy: Uncommon, but it can cause numbness, tingling, or pain in the arms and legs. It may be irreversible in some cases.
- Allergic reactions: This can include hives, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing, and anaphylaxis, although these are relatively rare when taking Cycin.

- Liver damage: In rare cases, Cycin may lead to liver injury, potentially resulting in jaundice.
- Kidney problems: There have been reports of kidney damage with Cycin, including acute interstitial nephritis.
- Clostridium difficile infection: The use of antibiotics like Cycin can lead to an overgrowth of the bacterium Clostridium difficile, causing severe diarrhea and colitis.

What Are The Possible Drug Interactions of Cycin?
- Antacids, sucralfate, and other products containing aluminum, calcium, or magnesium: These can reduce the absorption of Cycin, so it’s recommended to take Cycin at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after taking these products.
- Iron supplements: Iron supplements can also interfere with the absorption of Cycin. Try to take iron supplements at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after taking Cycin.
- Warfarin and other anticoagulants: Cycin can potentiate the effects of anticoagulants, increasing the risk of bleeding. Frequent monitoring of blood clotting parameters is essential if you are on both medications.
- Theophylline: Combining Cycin with theophylline (used for respiratory conditions like asthma) can lead to increased theophylline levels in the blood, potentially causing toxicity. Dose adjustments may be necessary.
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): Taking NSAIDs like ibuprofen or naproxen with Cycin can increase the risk of central nervous system (CNS) side effects, such as dizziness and confusion.
- Tizanidine: Combining Cycin with tizanidine (a muscle relaxant) can cause a severe drop in blood pressure, leading to dizziness or fainting.
- Glyburide (glibenclamide) and other oral diabetes medications: Cycin can affect blood sugar levels, and when taken with diabetes medications, it may necessitate dosage adjustments.
- Methotrexate: Cycin can increase the levels of methotrexate in the body, potentially leading to methotrexate toxicity.
- Certain heart rhythm medications: Cycin can prolong the QT interval on an electrocardiogram (ECG), and taking it with other drugs that do the same can increase the risk of irregular heart rhythms.
- Corticosteroids: Concurrent use of Cycin with corticosteroids may increase the risk of tendon problems, including tendonitis and tendon rupture.
