Who Should Not Use Avil?

There are certain circumstances when taking Avil that should be avoided due to the potential risks of serious side effects. These include if you have narrow-angle glaucoma (increased pressure inside the eye), urinary retention (inability to urinate), prostatic hypertrophy (enlarged prostate), heart diseases such as congestive heart failure or arrhythmia, seizure disorder, asthma, liver disease, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, kidney disease, diabetes mellitus, depression and/or suicidal thoughts, dementia, psychotic disorders, Parkinson’s Disease, myasthenia gravis, bladder obstruction due to an enlarged prostate gland, and porphyria (metabolic disorder).

Other contraindications include if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, taking other medications that may interact negatively with Avil such as tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), MAO inhibitors (MAOIs), other antihistamines like diphenhydramine, anticholinergics like atropine, sedatives like barbiturates, opioids like morphine, stimulants like amphetamine.

What is the Recommended Daily Dosage of Avil?

Avil should not take empty stomach and with plenty of water.

Do not chew Avil tablet.

Adults & Children (10 years and over): Initially 1 tablet of Avil 25mg 2 to 3 times daily, If it needs the dose may be increased to double (1 tablet of Avil 50mg 2 to 3 times daily).

Children (5 to 10 years): 1 tablet of Avil 25mg 2 times daily.

Children (under 5 years): Avil tablets are not recommended.

Avil belongs to antihistamine drugs, it works to stop the allergy mediator enzyme (Histamine) by binding to the histamine H1 receptors. It acts as an inverse agonist once bound.
