Rigix Side Effects

• Alcohol: While Rigix itself is not known to interact directly with alcohol, both alcohol and Rigix can cause drowsiness. • Sedatives and Central Nervous System Depressants: Rigix may increase the sedative effects of other medications that affect the central nervous system, such as benzodiazepines, sleep aids, and some antidepressants. This combination can lead to excessive drowsiness or impaired coordination.
• Other Antihistamines: Taking multiple antihistamines at the same time may result in additive effects and increase the risk of side effects like drowsiness. It’s generally not recommended to use multiple antihistamines simultaneously.
• Ketoconazole and Erythromycin: These medications, which are used to treat fungal infections and bacterial infections, respectively, can inhibit the metabolism of Rigix, potentially leading to increased levels of Cetirizine Dihydrochloride in the blood. This may increase the risk of side effects.
• Cimetidine: Cimetidine, often used to treat heartburn and ulcers, can also inhibit the metabolism of Rigix, potentially leading to increased levels of Cetirizine Dihydrochloride in the bloodstream.
• Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs): There is a theoretical risk of an increased risk of serotonin syndrome when Rigix is combined with SSRIs, although this interaction is not well-documented.
• Grapefruit Juice: Grapefruit juice can interact with Rigix and other medications by inhibiting certain enzymes responsible for drug metabolism. This can result in higher levels of Cetirizine Dihydrochloride in the bloodstream.
