Brufen Tablet Uses

Brufen tablet is a widely used non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug for managing pain, inflammation, and fever. Below are some common and off-label uses of Brufen tablets:

Despite the potential benefits of Brufen uses discussed above, there are several contraindications that must be taken into consideration before beginning a course of treatment.

Brufen should not be used under the following conditions:

• Active ulcers in your stomach or intestine
• Severe heart failure
• Severe kidney failure requiring dialysis
• Allergy/Hypersensitivity to aspirin or other NSAIDs
• Pregnant or nursing a baby (unless directed by your doctor)
• When using another NSAID such as naproxen sodium or ketoprofen (consult with your doctor first)
• Brufen should not be used if you have asthma that gets worse after taking this drug or other NSAIDs.

Brufen adults (over 12 years old or 40kg and above) dose is according to the conditions:

In Rheumatic Conditions: one 400mg tablet 3 times a day can be increased by one 600mg tablet 3 times in a day. (Brufen maximum dose is, 2400mg/day)

In Menstrual Pain: one tablet 400mg 1-3 times a day.

In Mild to Moderate Pain: 200-400mg as a single dose or divided 3-4 times in a day.

In Fever (Adults Dose): 200-400mg 1-3 times a day.

In Fever (Children 6-12 years): 200mg 1-3 times a day.

Brufen Suspension 100mg/5ml Dose: The recommended dose is 200-400mg (10-20 ml) three times in 24 hours.

Brufen has anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties. It works to inhibit the activity of both COX (COX-1 and COX-2) isoforms. These enzymes (COX) produce prostaglandins, which are responsible for the pain, swelling, and inflammation associated with various conditions.
