Common Uses of Sert Tablet

Sert Tablets : 50mg and 100mg strengths

Sert has certain contraindications, and its use should be avoided in the following situations:

Hypersensitivity or allergy: Sert should not be used in individuals who have a known hypersensitivity or allergy to Sert or any of its components. Allergic reactions can range from mild skin rashes to severe anaphylaxis.

Concurrent use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs): Sert should not be taken within 14 days before or after the use of MAOIs. The combination of Sert and MAOIs can lead to a potentially life-threatening condition known as serotonin syndrome, characterized by symptoms such as agitation, hallucinations, rapid heartbeat, increased body temperature, and elevated blood pressure.

Use in pediatric patients for major depressive disorder: Sert is not approved for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age for the treatment of major depressive disorder, except for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Use in the treatment of bipolar disorder: Sert alone is not recommended for the treatment of bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness) due to the risk of precipitating a manic episode. It may be prescribed with caution in combination with mood stabilizers under close supervision.

Use in the treatment of patients with untreated narrow-angle glaucoma: Sert can increase intraocular pressure in patients with untreated narrow-angle glaucoma, potentially leading to a glaucoma attack.

Concomitant use with pimozide or disulfiram: The combination of Sert with pimozide or disulfiram is contraindicated due to the potential for serious drug interactions and adverse effects.

Sert Dose for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD):

• One tablet of 50mg once daily.
• This can be increased gradually, if necessary, under the guidance of a healthcare professional.
• The maximum recommended dose is 200mg per day.

Sert Dose for Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD):

• One or half tablet of 50mg once daily.
• The dose may be increased gradually based on the response and tolerability.
• The maximum recommended dose is 200 mg per day.

Sert Dose for Panic Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD):

• Half a tablet of 50mg once daily, and can be increased gradually.
• The typical target dose for these conditions is 50-200 mg per day, depending on individual response.

Sert Dose for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD):

• For Adults: 1 – 3 tablets of 50mg once daily throughout the menstrual cycle or just during the luteal phase (i.e., the two weeks before menstruation).
