Sofvasc Tablet Uses

Safvasc tablet is primarily used for the treatment of high blood pressure and angina. It belongs to the class of drugs known as calcium channel blockers. Following are some common uses of Sofvasc Tablet:

1. Hypertension: Sofvasc tablet is primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It can be used alone or in combination therapy with other drugs ideally with sartan to control blood pressure.

Sofvasc is generally considered safe and well-tolerated still, there are some contraindications that should be considered before starting treatment with Sofvasc.

Hypersensitivity: Sofvasc is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive (allergic) to Sofvasc or any of its components.

Severe Hypotension: Sofvasc is contraindicated in patients with severe hypotension (low blood pressure), which may be caused by factors such as shock, severe heart failure, or aortic stenosis.

Sofvasc works by selectively targeting the L-type calcium channels, which are found in high concentrations in the arterial smooth muscle cells and cardiac muscle cells. By blocking these channels, Sofvasc reduces the entry of calcium ions into the cells, which leads to the relaxation of the smooth muscles and decreased contractility of the cardiac muscle.
