Gevolox Glucosamine Side Effects

No major side effect of Gevolox have been reported even after extensive trials over the past decade.

Side effects are rare and mild, mostly related to G.I tract such as nausea, epigastric discomfort etc. Urticaria and pruritus has also been reported rarely.

Precautions

There is no controlled data available for the use of Gevolox in pregnancy.

Pharmacokinetics

After oral administration about 90% of glucosamine is absorbed from G.l tract. The plasma levels as shown by radioactivity are smaller than that by parenteral administration suggesting a hepatic first pass effect. It is also demonstrated that Gevolox diffuses well into several tissues including structures like bones and articular cartilage.

Use in Elderly

Gevolox is safe in elderly, can be given for extended time periods and has high tolerability in therapeutic trials.

Dosage

One capsule three times a day or as prescribed by the physician.
