When to Use Blokium?
Hypertension
Blokium (Atenolol) is indicated in the management of hypertension. it may be used alone or concomitantly with other antihypertensive agents, particularly with a thiazide- type diuretic.
Angina Pectoris Due to Coronary Atherosclerosis
Blokium (Atenolol) is indicated for the long-term management of patients with angina pectoris.
Acute Myocardial Infarction
Blokium (Atenolol) is indicated in the management of hemodynamically stable patients with definite or suspected acute myocardial infarction to reduce cardiovascular mortality Treatment can he initiated as soon as the patient's clinical condition allows.
Contraindications
Treatment with Blokium (Atenolol), as with other beta-blockers, is contraindicated in patients with the following:
- Known hypersensitivity to the drug
- Heart block (second or third degree)
- Bradycardia
- Cardiogenic shock
- Severe peripheral arterial circulatory disturbances and sick sinus syndrome
