Algecal Contraindications

When to Avoid Algecal?

Contraindications

AlgeCal is contraindicated in patients with hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria (e.g.hyperparathyroidism, decalcifying tumors, bone metastasis) severe renal disease and in calcium loss due to immobilization.

Drug Interactions

Due to the possible formation of non absorbable complexes, AlgeCal may reduce the absorption of tetracycline, quinolones or fluoride preparations. In such cases it is advisable to administer AlgeCal about 3 hours later, if these are given concomitantly. Certain dietary substances spinach, rhubarb ( oxalic acid), bran and whole cereals ( physic acid ) and milk and dairy products ( Phosphorus) interfere with the absorption of calcium.
