Xavor Tablet Uses

Xavor tablet is used to treat high blood pressure and to protect the kidneys from damage due to diabetes. It belongs to a class of drugs known as ARBs (angiotensin II receptor blockers). Following are some common and off-label uses of Xavor Tablets:

Common Uses of Xavor Tablet

1. Treatment of Hypertension (high blood pressure): Xavor tablet is used to lower high blood pressure in adults and children over 6 years old.
2. Reduction of the Risk of Stroke: Xavor tablet is also used to reduce the risk of stroke in people with hypertension.
3. Treatment of Heart Failure: Xavor tablets may be used to treat heart failure in people who cannot tolerate other medications.
4. Protection of the Kidneys: Xavor tablets help to protect the kidneys from damage in people with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.
5. Myocardial Infarction: Xavor tablets may be used in the management of myocardial infarction (heart attack), particularly in people who have heart failure or left ventricular dysfunction following a heart attack.

Xavor Tablet : 50mg strength.

Although, Xavor is an effective and safe drug still some contraindications are associated with it.

Allergic Reaction: Xavor is contraindicated in people who have had an allergic reaction to it or to any other angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB).

Pregnancy: Xavor is contraindicated in pregnant women, especially during the second and third trimesters, as it can cause injury or death to the developing fetus.

Severe Hepatic Impairment: Xavor is contraindicated in people with severe liver disease as it may exacerbate the condition.

Severe Renal Impairment: Xavor is contraindicated in people with severe kidney disease as it may exacerbate the condition.

Combination with Aliskiren: Xavor should not be used in combination with the blood pressure medication Aliskiren in people with diabetes or kidney problems.

Xavor Dose for Hypertension: One tablet of 50mg once daily. The dose may be increased to a maximum of two tablets of 50mg once daily based on individual patient response.

Xavor Dose for the Treatment of Heart Failure: 25mg (Half Tablet) once daily, which may be increased to One tablet of 50mg once daily based on individual patient response.

Xavor Dose for the Treatment of Diabetic Nephropathy: One tablet of 50mg once daily, which may be increased to 2 tablets of 50mg once daily based on individual patient response.

For the reduction of risk of hospitalization due to heart failure in people with left ventricular dysfunction following a heart attack, the recommended starting dose is one tablet of 50mg once daily, which may be increased to 3 tablets of 50mg once daily based on individual patient response.

Xavor works by blocking the action of the hormone angiotensin II on the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor, which is found in many tissues, including blood vessels and the kidneys. By blocking the action of angiotensin II, Xavor causes blood vessels to relax and widen, which helps to lower blood pressure and improve blood flow to the heart. It also reduces the amount of protein that is excreted in the urine, which can help to slow the progression of kidney disease in people with diabetes.
